Regretting a tattoo is nothing new. Most people (parents especially) assume that you’ll regret them once you grow up, and maybe sometimes you do. Some people suffer over wrong placements or just bad penmanship, but some tattoo stories take it up a notch. Yes, we’re talking about the name tattoos that don’t pay up.

There are many hilarious stories of people getting a tattoo of their partner’s name and later breaking up maybe a year later. But a week? Now, that is something. And that’s what happened to TikToker Ashlyn. Ashlyn got a tattoo of her then-boyfriend (now ex) on her back. And it wasn’t a small one either. The ironic part here is their breakup. The couple broke up a week after Ashlyn got her tattoo.

The TikTok comedian posted a video in response to a comment that said, “I heard you got a tattoo of your exes name, and then y’all broke up a week later.” She lip-syncs the comment with a sound splice of Adele’s “Rumour has it” and Lizzo’s “Rumour” and then answers the question by lip-syncing along to the lyrics from Rumour; ‘all the rumors are true/yep’.

She revealed a photo of her unfortunate ink job two days later, and it is…something. The gigantic tattoo goes down her entire spine with her ex’s name written in all capitals. The lady now has A-L-E-X-A-N-D-E-R written on her spine with no Alexander on the horizon.

She wasn’t alone in her grievance, at least according to the whooping 5.4 million views her video got. One person commented about how her ex had a pin-up girl version of her tattooed on his calf and how his wife gets to see it now. Other followers chimed in with a little advice and warning to not write your partner’s name on your body. As one follower commented, “It’s bad to get a tattoo with your s/o name, don’t you know.”

We all know and get it, both the unfortunate and the hilarious part. As unfortunate (and hilarious) as it is, the irony of the whole incident has left us (and apparently a good part of her followers) speechless. As far as bad tattoo stories and bad breakup stories go, this one is a top contender in both categories for sure.
