This Song Is From 1982 & Is Viral Now

The current-gen Z and gen alpha transition period are fascinating. Many older trends from the ‘60s, ‘70s, and ‘80s are coming back, and the y2k aesthetic is the dominant theme in the world right now. Not just trends, though. A lot of old music is also coming back. This song we’re talking about is from 1982, but it has made an enormous splash after almost 40 years of its release. But which song is it?

Kate Bush and Her 1982 Hit: Revived

The song we’re talking about is Kate Bush’s 1982 hit single. “Running Up the Hills” The song was one of the best in her career and did well on the charts despite tough competition. The peak chart position of this song was at 30 in 1985, almost three years after its release.

That was until it recently got revived. The song charted #8 on billboard hot 100 and remained #1 on UK’s song charts for three consecutive weeks.

The famous horror/suspense drama centered around four teen characters, Stranger Things, should be the one taking (almost) all the credit for this sudden rise of this song. The show featured this song on episode 4 of its latest season as the talisman for Max. And the show’s dramatic effects did the rest. The song was an instant hit for the show’s much-younger audiences, who probably heard it for the first time in their lives.

Kate Bush has published an online note expressing her gratitude for the surged popularity of her song. She described it as a pleasant surprise and said that the revival feels like an elemental force is working behind it.

“Stranger Things” is a horror/mystery series on Netflix. The show follows four teenagers (and their friends) of Hawkins Labs as they fight the evil force trying to attack their hometown. The series has four seasons, and the fans have high hopes of getting at least one more season.

Running Up the Hill may be a little old as a song for some people, but that doesn’t mean it is terrible. It is the opposite. The chart position will tell you that much. And if you’re still curious, you can give Stranger Things a shot.
